WHAT'S IN A NAME? PORTREATH MUM'S 'PERFECT' VENTURE

09:00 - 10 February 2005
A portreath mum thinks she has got the perfect new business venture - if only she could get people to understand what it is. In Louise Ford's own words it is the: "complete soft play area for children" though officially it is known as a "Play Trailer Experience".

How else do you describe a 20sq ft cage equipped with slides, trampolines and a ball pit that can be transported up and down the county?

Miss Ford's problem is that not many people can quite picture the equipment and, having relocated back to her home county from Spain to start the new business, needs bookings soon.

"I am hoping to get the trailer into rallies, village shows and local school events," explained the 30-year-old single mother.

Rental fees for private parties, which can take up to 12 kids at a time, are £120 per day; alternatively at public events, children are charged £1 for 10 minutes.

Miss Ford claims the yellow, red and green play area is unique to the county: "I have been told it is the only one in Cornwall and bouncy castles are ten a penny." Contact her on 01209 843444.
